Bauchi Police Arrest Two Over 12-Year-Old Boy’s Alleged Defilement

The Bauchi State Police Command on Tuesday confirmed the arrest of two suspects for allegedly sodomising a 12-year-old boy.

The command identified the suspects as 30-year-old Lukman Mohammed, 32-year-old Musa Halilu, and one Alkasim, who is at large.

The move followed a complaint filed by the victim’s father Mr. Ibrahim Maikudi, at the ‘C’ Divisional Headquarters of the Command on Wednesday, July 16, 2025.

Maikudi had discovered excrement on his son’s trousers, an observation the boy’s mother also confirmed had occurred multiple times.

In response to the complaint, the command’s spokesperson, CSP Ahmed Wakil, said detectives were dispatched to the location.

He said, “Preliminary investigations indicate that an eyewitness, a watchman in proximity to the location, voluntarily informed the police that he had observed one of the suspects, Halilu, pursuing the boy on two separate occasions.

“The watchman cautioned the boy to maintain a distance from the suspects.

“Shortly thereafter, he witnessed the boy approaching the suspects’ residence, at which point he intervened and reprimanded the boy.

“Following this incident, the boy’s mother inquired about the reprimand, to which the watchman explained.

“Upon questioning, the child revealed that he had been lured by three adult males into engaging in inappropriate acts.

“Two suspects were arrested in connection with the incident, while one remains at large,”

Wakil said the victim was referred to a Specialist Hospital in Bauchi for a medical examination

He noted that the Commissioner of Police, Bauchi Command, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure the arrest of the fleeing suspect.

This comes barely hours after the Chief Judge of Nasarawa, Justice Aisha Bashir-Aliyu, sentenced a 27-year-old Ahmadu Yaro to 21 years in prison for defiling a three-month-old baby in Adogi village, Nasarawa State.

Yaro’s sentence came five years after he was arrested in 2020.
