Bandits kill, abduct farmers in Sokoto communities
Bandits have launched deadly attacks on two communities in Sokoto State, killing and abducting residents and stealing livestock.
The incidents were shared on Sunday by security analyst Bakatsine.
He warned that the rising attacks on farmers could worsen Nigeria’s food crisis if urgent steps are not taken.
In one of the attacks, which happened on Sunday afternoon, armed bandits invaded Marnona in Wurno Local Government Area, killing some farmers and abducting several others from their farms.
“This afternoon, bandits attacked farmers in Marnona, Wurno LGA, Sokoto State, killing some and abducting several others. If authorities fail to act, these repeated attacks on farmers could push Nigeria deeper into food crisis.
Similarly, on Saturday night, another group of bandits stormed Katarawa community in Gwadabawa LGA, where they killed three people, injured three others, and rustled a large number of cattle.
“Yesterday night, bandits attacked Katarawa community in Gwadabawa LGA, Sokoto State. They killed three people, injured three people and rustled a large number of cattle during the attack,” Bakatsine wrote.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the incidents.
