Ballon d’Or ranking 2025: All you need to know about nominees, other awards
The 30 nominees for the 2025 Ballon d’Or ranking will be published tomorrow, 7 August.
The 2025 Ballon d’Or award ceremony will take place at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris on 22 September.
This year’s Ballon d’Or committee is made up of journalists from France Football and L’Equipe.
They will choose the 30 nominees and there are some number of players that can be voted for.
Once the two lists are released, one football journalist from each of the top 100 FIFA-ranked countries will cast a vote for their top 10 players.
Within their top 10, there is a points system, which is then tallied up and used to work out the winner of the Ballon d’Or.
Meanwhile, the likes of Paris Saint-Germain’s Ousmane Dembele, Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, Barcelona’s Raphinha, Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, Real Madrid’s Kylain Mbappe, Paris Saint-Germain’s Vitinha and Paris Saint-Germain’s Achraf Hakimi are among top contenders for the 2025 Ballon d’Or.
The other awards up for grabs on the main Ballon d’Or ceremony day on September 22, are: Kopa Trophy (Best young player), Yashin Trophy (Best goalkeeper), Gerd Müller Trophy (Top goal scorer), Johan Cruyff Trophy ( Best coach) and Club of the Year.
