Ballon d’Or 2025: Carvajal speaks on Lamine Yamal’s chances

Dani Carvajal, Real Madrid right-back, has tipped Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal as one of the top contenders for this year’s Ballon d’Or.

Both Yamal and Carvajal are international teammates with the Spain national team.

Speaking to Cadena SER, Carvajal said: “Yamal could be among the [top] candidates for the Ballon d’Or, especially because of his youth.

“He is 18, I was at Castilla when I was 18, so it’s very difficult to make a difference at that age in professional football.

“Since I am not going to vote, I am not going to give it to anyone because I am not the captain.”

The winner for the 2025 Ballon d’Or will be announced this month and Yamal is among the 30 players shortlisted for the individual prize.
