Badegi Radio closure: Information Minister Malagi appeals to parties involved to remain calm

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Idris Malagi, has called for calm following the closure of Badeggi FM radio station in Niger State.

Malagi, in a statement signed by his Special Assistant (Media), Rabiu Ibrahim, appealed to all parties, including the state governor and the radio station’s management, to remain calm while the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, resolves the issue.

Recall that the Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umaru Bago, issued the directive during an expanded Niger State APC Caucus Meeting in Minna on August 1, 2025, which the Minister of Information and National Orientation attended.

The minister observed that the NBC has the authority to regulate broadcasting licences and will handle the matter fairly and impartially.

He, however, welcomed the state government’s decision to report the issue to the NBC for resolution.

Recall that the Niger State government had directed the suspension of Badeggi FM over allegations of unethical broadcasting and incitement against the government.
