Auchi Poly Rector Emerges Committee Of Rectors’ Chairman

The Committee of Federal Polytechnic Rectors (COFER) has elected the Rector of Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State, Dr. Salisu Shehu Umar, as its new chairman.
The election took place on April 15, 2025, at the 37th Regular Meeting of COFER held at the Veterinary Council in Abuja.
According to a statement by COFER’s Secretary, Godwin Ayegba, Umar’s tenure as chairman will commence on May 12, 2025, following the expiration of the current Chairman, Prof. Aliyu Mamman, Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Daura in Katsina State.
The statement added that he will serve as chairman until the conclusion of his tenure as Rector of Auchi Polytechnic.
Other officials were also elected to key positions, including Dr. Agbabiaka Lukman Adegoke, Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Ekowe, Bayelsa State, as Vice-Chairman, and Dr. Suleiman Umar, Rector of Kaduna Polytechnic, Kaduna State, as Treasurer.
The meeting also confirmed the Zonal Co-ordinators for the various regions.
They include: Dr. Sabo Wada Dutse, Rector, for the North-West Zone; Dr. Mikhail A. Akinde, Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, for the South-West Zone; Dr. Mohammed Usman, Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Bali, for the North-East Zone; Dr. Yahaya Baba Usman, Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Idah, for the North-Central Zone; and Dr. Feliz U. Attah, Rector, Akanu-Ibiam Federal Polytechnic, Unwana, for the South-East Zone.
COFER serves as a collaborative platform for Rectors of all Federal Polytechnics in Nigeria, promoting cooperation and exchange of ideas among member institutions.
