Atiku, Obi Attend Yar’Adua Mother’s Burial In Katsina As Senator Kingibe Mourns
Former vice president, Atiku Abubakar and his erstwhile presidential running mate, Peter Obi on Tuesday attended the burial of Hajia Aya Dada Yar’Adua, the mother of former late President, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.
Atiku arrived at the funeral prayers in the company of Senator Abdulaziz Yar’Adua, among others.
He has earlier in his condolence message said he “adopted Hajiya Dada as a mother. Indeed, she was a mother of multitudes, as her home was always a place of refuge where she welcomed everyone with love.”
Atiku said “She will be sorely missed” and expressed his “profound condolences to the Yar’Adua family, friends and associates over the loss of this gem of inestimable value.”
Obi who also attended the burial rites had condoled the family describing the deceased’s late son, General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua, who was a Chief of Staff, at Supreme Headquarters as one with “a patriotic desire to reposition the nation based on unity, peace and progress, and then deliver good governance.”
He said, “Hajia Dada will be remembered for her dedication to her religious faith.”
He condoled “the entire Yar’Adua family over the passing of their matriarch. I also commiserate with the government and people of Katsina State over this loss.”
Senator Ireti Kingibe, who represents the Federal Capital Territory offered her condolences praying that may “Allah grant her eternal rest and surround the family with comfort during this time of sorrow.”
She added, “As a nation, we share in your grief. Hajiya Dada was not just a mother; she was the foundation upon which a leader who served our country with honour was built.
“Her legacy will continue to live on through her children and the many lives she has impacted,” the FCT senator stated.
