Atiku is not a member of ADC, I never held any discussion with him’ – Nafiu Bala
Acting National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Nafiu Bala, has dismissed insinuations that he held discussions with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on the affairs of the party, insisting that Atiku is not a member of the ADC.
Bala, who spoke to journalists in Bauchi, said: “It is not true and I don’t know where it is coming from. Atiku Abubakar is not a member of the ADC, why should I have discussions with him about ADC? As the Ag National Chairman of the ADC, I will not go and discuss with anyone about the ADC.
“Atiku Abubakar is a stakeholder and member of the PDP. I am not aware that he is in the ADC. ADC is a united party, we are together, all those who did not resign are in the office working, we just conducted elections in Bauchi State in the North East zone.”
The embattled former Deputy National Chairman declared that he has officially assumed leadership of the ADC in line with the party’s constitution following the resignation of Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu.
He assured that he would resist attempts by infiltrators to hijack the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to him, elements from the PDP, APC, LP, and APGA have “infiltrated” the ADC and were bent on destabilising it. He alleged that some individuals who were never members of the ADC are parading themselves as leaders after being handpicked by Nwosu, describing the action as unconstitutional.
“As it is now, I am the authentic Ag National Chairman of the ADC, and I have since resumed the office. I am in control of the party structure at all levels in accordance with the constitution of the party,” Bala said.
He urged those claiming leadership to go back to their wards, register properly, and renounce their membership of other political parties before seeking to participate in ADC affairs.
On his alleged expulsion from the ADC in Gombe State, Bala dismissed it as false, saying he was recently welcomed by stakeholders in his ward who reaffirmed him as a bonafide member.
He further alleged that some of those parading themselves as leaders are being sponsored by the APC and the Federal Government to destabilise the ADC, just as they did to other parties.
Bala stressed that he has already communicated the leadership changes to INEC, urging members to remain vigilant and committed to the survival of the ADC.
