In his message for the 2025 Lenten season, Pope Francis invited Christians worldwide to embark on a journey of prayer, fasting, and charity, emphasizing the importance of hope and synodality.
Released on February 25, 2025, the Pope’s message reflected on the theme of journeying together in hope, drawing inspiration from the biblical exodus and the Jubilee Year.
Pope Francis encouraged believers to examine their lives and ask themselves if they are truly journeying with others, listening to them, and resisting the temptation of self-absorption.
He also emphasized the need for synodality, urging Christians to walk together, consolidating their unity as children of God.
The Pope concluded his message by invoking the intercession of the Virgin Mary, Mother of Hope, to accompany believers on their Lenten journey.
“This Lent, God is asking us to examine whether in our lives, in our families, in the places where we work and spend our time, we are capable of walking together with others, listening to them, resisting the temptation to become self-absorbed and to think only of our own needs,” he said.
