Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has said the medical team will give the go-ahead for Viktor Gyokeres ahead of their pre-season friendly against Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday.

Gyokeres joined up with the Gunners’ squad last week after completing his move from Sporting CP.

The 27-year-old has already been pictured in a few training sessions, taking part in shooting drills.

With a lot of supporters looking forward to his debut for Arsenal, Arteta has delivered the latest on Gyokeres’ fitness.

He told reporters: “”He has only done today’s session and yesterday very little.

“We are going to assess tonight where he is.

“If the medical staff are pleased with his condition, it is possible.”
