The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has approved the redeployment of 17 senior officers to strategic commands, instructional, and staff positions across formations and units of the Nigerian Army.

The shake-up, announced on Sunday by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele, affects Principal Staff Officers at Army Headquarters, General Officers Commanding (GOCs), Corps Commanders, Commandants of training institutions, and Brigade Commanders.

The changes aim to strengthen the operational and administrative structures of the force.

At the Army Headquarters, Major General A.A. Adeyinka moved from the Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport to the Department of Army Logistics, where he now serves as Chief of Logistics (Army).

Major General A.A. Adekeye was reassigned from the Department of Standards and Evaluation to the Department of Personnel Management as Chief of Personnel Management (Army).

Similarly, Major General T.B. Ugiagbe, who previously served at the Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps, now heads the Department of Standard and Evaluation as Chief of Standard and Evaluation.

Other key headquarters appointments include Major General A.A. Idris, redeployed from the Defence Headquarters to the Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps as Chief of Military Intelligence (Army); and Major General M.O. Erebulu, who moved from the Department of Special Services and Programmes to the Nigerian Army Corps of Military Police as Provost Marshal (Army).

In addition, Major General E.A. Anaryu, previously at the Defence Space Administration, now serves as Corps Commander, Supply and Transport while Major General S.A. Akesode has been deployed from the Office of the National Security Adviser to head the African Union Verification Mission in the Tigray Region of Ethiopia.

At the financial arm, Major General J.E. Osifo transitioned from the Nigerian Army School of Finance and Accounts to the Nigerian Army Finance Corporation as Director General.

The new General Officers Commanding (GOCs) include Major General A.S.M. Wase, who moved from the Department of Training to command 1 Division and Sector 1 of Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, and Major General C.R. Nnebeife, who was appointed General Officer Commanding 2 Division and Sector 3 of the Joint Task Force under the same operation.

Several senior officers also assumed leadership of Army training institutions. Major General M.O. Ihanuwaze was appointed Commandant of the Nigerian Army Finance School and Administration after serving at the Finance Insurance Corporation.

Major General K.O. Osemwegie now leads the Army Signal School, while Major General A.J. Aliyu became Commandant of the Nigerian Army Ordnance School.

Additionally, Major General A.C. Adetoba, who moved from the Department of Transformation and Innovation, now commands the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management.

At the brigade level, Brigadier General M. Jimoh was redeployed from Headquarters Operation FANSAN YAMMA to command 1 Brigade.

Brigadier General N.E. Okoloagu, formerly at the Army War College Nigeria, now leads 2 Brigade, while Brigadier General A.A. Bello moved from the Nigerian Army School of Infantry to command the 6 Division Garrison and Sector 3 of Joint Task Force South South Operation DELTA SAFE.

Oluyede charged the newly appointed officers to intensify their commitment to duty, stressing the importance of sustaining the ongoing fight against terrorism, insurgency, and other threats to national security as they assume their new responsibilities.
