APC Instigating, Bankrolling Litigations Against Leaders Of Opposition Parties —ADC

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of bankrolling the litany of court cases instigated against leaders of major opposition parties.
The spokesman of the ADC, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, who made the accusation at the weekend in Abuja, said an example of such cases, is the one filed against the party by a former Deputy National Chairman of the ADC, Mr Nafiu Bala.
Abdullahi said the APC and its agents were behind similar litigations arising from leadership crises in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Labour Party (LP) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
He said, “What they are doing is to continue to drag the parties back, to continue to create a condition that Nigerians would think that we are permanently in crisis.
“Don’t forget this was the same thing that was done to PDP. This was the same thing that was done to Labour Party. This was the same thing that was done to SDP.
“It is these same agents that were driving this, the same forces that are also driving these particular individuals.
“The person that went to court, with due respect, I am very confident that I know him. I am very confident that he doesn’t have the resources to push this. So who is funding it? Who is encouraging it?”
Nafiu Bala is challenging the recent leadership change in the ADC that threw up Senator David Mark as the party’s National Chairman.
Bala had, a few weeks ago, approached the Federal High Court, Abuja, seeking an order of the court restraining Mark his team from parading themselves as the leaders of ADC.
However, the presiding judge, Emeka Nwite, declined to give the order. Rather, the judge ordered Mark and his team to appear before the court to show cause why Nafiu Bala’s request should not be granted.
Justice Nwite then fixed the matter till Monday, September 15, 2025 for Mark and his colleagues to argue their case.
Abdullahi confirmed the readiness of the ADC and its legal team to meet Nafiu Bala in court on Monday.
The ADC spokesman however, said the party leadership is open to honest discussions with members who feel genuinely aggrieved one way or the other.
But he declared that the party leadership would not run away from a fight, if that is what such recalcitrant members wanted.
“So if they are willing to talk, we are willing to talk to them. But if what they want to continue doing, is this thing that they are doing, we would move on and we would be willing to match them for whatever it is worth,” he said.
