A member of the House of Representatives, Clara Nnabuife, has defected from the Young Progressives Party (YPP) to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Nnabuife, who represents Orumba North/Orumba South Federal Constituency in Anambra State, defected on Thursday.

She cited her exclusion from party activities as the reason for her defection.

In a letter of defection read on the floor of the House during Thursday’s plenary by the Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu, who presided in the absence of the Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, Nnabuife stated that her new party would afford her a better platform to represent the aspiration of her constituency.

“The exclusion from the activities of YPP and the need to embrace a better platform to represent the wishes of my people is the reason for this decision,” the letter read in part.
