Justice Simon Aboki of a Nasarawa State High Court sitting in Lafia has fixed June 26 for judgment in the case against Timileyin Ajayi, the alleged killer of Miss Salome Adaidu, an NYSC member serving in Abuja.

Justice Aboki announced this on Tuesday after counsels to both parties submitted their final written addresses.

The judge had earlier stood down the matter when the case was mentioned to enable the defence counsel, Joseph Tuku Bisson, to announce his appearance in court.

Upon resumption of the sitting, the defence counsel, Bisson, submitted his final written address and prayed the court to discharge and acquit his client for failure of the prosecution to prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt.

In his response, the prosecution counsel, Joseph Kigbu, while adopting his final written address, urged the court to convict the defendant based on the huge evidence against him.

Justice Aboki commended the counsels involved in the matter for their resilience in pursuing justice.

He subsequently adjourned the case to June 26 for judgment.

Ajayi, a self-acclaimed crypto trader and gospel singer, was arrested on February 12 by police personnel in Karshi, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, for allegedly killing his girlfriend, a 24-year-old.

Earlier, Ajayi was spotted in court praying ahead of the continuation of his trial over the brutal killing of Salome.

She was allegedly murdered when she visited the suspect at his house in the Papalana axis at New Karshi in the Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

He was nabbed while trying to dispose of her body, which he allegedly had chopped into bits.

During interrogation, he said he had no remorse for his actions. He claimed she was always cheating on him.
