Alleged hacking: Arraigned foreigners, Nigerian collaborators plead not guilty
Foreigners, predominantly of Chinese, Indonesian, Thailand and Malaysian origin, and their Nigerian collaborators arraigned over alleged involvement in high-level cybercrimes, hacking, and activities that threaten national security, on Friday pleaded not guilty to the charges.
DAILY POST reports that the Federal Government arraigned the suspects on a six-count charge before Justice Ekerete Akpan of the Federal High Court, Abuja.
The Nigeria Police had arrested the suspects in an operation that was conducted through a coordinated raid on a building in the Jahi area of Abuja, where the suspects were reportedly using computers and other sophisticated devices to facilitate criminal activities.
The operation, carried out on November 3, 2024, was led by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police for Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, AIG Benneth Igweh.
The team included officers of the Nigeria Police Force, Zone 7 Command, Abuja, and the National Cyber Crime Centre, NPF-NCCC.
