Akwa Ibom Signs Contract For 18-Storey Towers
The Akwa Ibom State Government has signed a contract for the construction of an 18-storey called Ibom Towers to be located in Lagos.
The Managing Director /Chief Executive Officer of the Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation (AKICORP), Mr Imo-Abasi Jacob, signed for the state government while the major contractor is Western Legacy.
Speaking at the conference room of the corporation during the contract signing ceremony for the 18 Storey building, Jacob said that the real estate was a realistic investment for a secure future.
He noted that Governor Umo Eno has acknowledged the steady returns offered by real estate and was actively exploring it as a viable investment option.
Jacob said that the 18-storey building was a flagship project of the governor and hinted that it was already generating significant interest in the market.
He said that as a highly sought-after project, the Ibom Towers as it is popularly called, was poised to become a landmark development.
According to him, the contracting firm, Western Legacy, was chosen following a rigorous process.
He said that contractors had proven their capacity in the ongoing execution of the Ibom Luxury Estate and expressed confidence that they would employ the same energy on the new assignment.
The Director of Legal Drafting in the Ministry of Justice, Mrs Ime Obot, who represented the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, explained that the contract signing ceremony formalised the agreement between Akwa Ibom State Government and Western Legacy as well as provide a legal framework for the project.
Obot affirmed that the agreement was thorough and mutually acceptable to both parties.
In his response, the head of Western Legacy, Mr Kunle Adedegbo, expressed gratitude to the Akwa Ibom State Government for entrusting the firm with the project.
He acknowledged that it was a significant investment of the administration and promised to justify the confidence and trust by delivering the job on schedule.
No mention was made of the cost of the project.
