Airforce’s Attack On Ikeja Electric Reckless, Says PowerUp
A non-governmental organization, PowerUp Nigeria, has described the March 6th Nigerian Airforce attack on Ikeja Electric offices as reckless.
THE WHISTLER recalls that on the 6th of March, Nigerian Airforce personnel reportedly launched an attack targeting Ikeja Electric facilities at their Headquarters in Ikeja, and Oshodi Business Units in Lagos.
The development had resulted in extensive structural damage, destruction of equipment, and temporary suspension of operations.
PowerUp in its position paper, which was signed by its Executive Director, Adetayo Adegbemle, a copy made available to THE WHISTLER in Abuja on Wednesday, claimed that the attack had caused significant damage to critical energy infrastructure, disrupted essential services, and endangered civilian lives.
To this end, the ground demanded a thorough investigation into the attack and called for the prosecution of those responsible for the assault.
“PowerUp Nigeria, a non-governmental organization dedicated to advancing sustainable energy access and power sector in Nigeria, vehemently condemns the unprovoked attack on Ikeja Electric offices by the Nigerian Airforce on the 6th of March, 2025.
“This reckless act has caused significant damage to critical energy infrastructure, disrupted essential services, and endangered civilian lives.
“PowerUp Nigeria demands: An Independent Investigation: A transparent, impartial inquiry into the circumstances leading to this attack, with findings made public.
“We also demand the prosecution of individuals and entities responsible for authorizing or executing the assault. We also call for full restitution by the Nigerian Airforce for damages incurred by Ikeja Electric and affected communities.
“Also, there should be concrete measures to prevent future attacks on critical infrastructure, including clear protocols for military-civilian engagements’’, the group stated.
