Air Peace Expands Global Reach with Fourth Boeing 777
Air Peace Limited has added another Boeing 777 to its fleet, reinforcing its dominance in West and Central Africa and underscoring its ambition for global expansion.
The new wide-body Boeing 777-200ER, registered as 5N-CEG, landed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Friday, August 22, 2025, at exactly 3:32 p.m. from Teruel, Spain.
The aircraft’s arrival was celebrated with a ceremonial water-cannon salute, attended by top executives, including Chairman Dr. Allen Onyema, Executive Director Obinna Onyema, and Chief Operating Officer Mrs. Oluwatoyin Olajide, alongside other senior management staff.
Speaking on the development, airline spokesperson Efe Osifo-Whiskey emphasised that the acquisition aligns with Air Peace’s long-term vision to connect Nigeria to key international destinations.
The Boeing 777 comes equipped with 312 seats—26 in Business Class and 286 in Economy—offering a superior travel experience through enhanced comfort and advanced in-flight features. Business Class passengers will enjoy private, plush seating, while Economy travellers benefit from generous legroom and refined onboard services.
During a guided media tour, Dr. Onyema described the aircraft’s induction as a critical milestone for the airline: “This acquisition marks a decisive step in Air Peace’s expansion strategy,” he noted.
The aircraft will be deployed within the next two months for inaugural direct flights from Abuja to London’s Heathrow and Gatwick airports. Additional routes to European capitals, South America—especially São Paulo, Brazil—and the Caribbean are also on the airline’s roadmap, building on its successful entry into Antigua and Barbuda as well as St. Kitts and Nevis.
Onyema reaffirmed Air Peace’s mission to make international travel affordable for Nigerians while reducing reliance on foreign carriers. He further called for the establishment of a robust hub system in Nigeria to strengthen connectivity within Africa and beyond.
He expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for fostering policies that support indigenous airlines and commended the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Senator Festus Keyamo, for implementing measures that allow Nigerian carriers to compete on the global stage.
