Again, Fury Announces Retirement From Boxing
Former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has announced his retirement from boxing after losing to Aleksandr Usyk in December.
Fury suffered a close points loss to Usyk with the three judges scoring the bout 116-112.
The 36-year-old announced his retirement in 2022 after defeating Dillian White only to return six months later to take on Derek Chisora.
He has now revealed that he is hanging up his boxing gloves in a video on Instagram.
Fury said: “Hi everybody, I’m going to make this short and sweet.
“I’d like to announce my retirement from boxing. It’s been a blast. I’ve loved every single minute of it. I’m going to end with this: Dick Turpin wore a mask. God bless everybody, see you on the other side.
“Thanks, it’s been a blast thanks to everyone who helped out along the way! Happy new year . Jesus is king now & forever.”
Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren was delighted for the British Boxer following an historic career in Boxing.
He said: “Good luck to him, God bless him. I’m thrilled for him.
“I’ve been saying since his last fight whatever he chooses to do I support him 100%.
“I hope he and his family enjoy the fruits of his labour … he’s the best and I hope people acknowledge that now.”
Fury is a two-time heavyweight world champion, winning his first title when he defeated Wladimir Klitschko in 2015.
After a three-year break, he returned to the ring and went on to beat Deontay Wilder in their second fight in 2020 to become WBC champion, before defending his title against Wilder again in 2021, then against Dillian Whyte and Derek Chisora in 2022.
He suffered his first career defeat against Oleksandr Usyk via split decision in May last year before losing the rematch in December to make it two consecutive losses to the Ukrainian.
Fury retired with an imperious record of 34 victories with just two defeats.
He held multiple world heavyweight championships, including unified titles from 2015 to 2016, the Ring magazine title twice between 2015 and 2022, and the World Boxing Council (WBC) title from 2020 to 2024.
