Afenifere Diaspora Declares Exclusive US Representation
Afenifere Diaspora USA has affirmed its status as the only authorized organization representing the Apex Body, Afenifere, in the United States.
This declaration comes under the new acting leadership of Oba Olaitan Oladipo, following the passing of Pa. Ayodele Samuel Adebanjo.
According to a statement jointly signed on Tuesday by Professor Sikiru Fadairo, Chairman, and Comrade David Adenekan, Secretary, Afenifere Diaspora USA was established to rebrand and reposition Afenifere’s influence in the diaspora.
The statement noted that the group aimed to work closely with the Apex Body to develop a framework aligned with the welfare ideology of Chief Obafemi Jeremiah Awolowo, promoting socioeconomic development both in the diaspora and at home.
“Afenifere Diaspora USA is truly a renaissance of progressive movement like Egbe Omo Oduduwa that was established in 1945 by Sir. Adeyemo Alakija as president, Yekini Ojukwutu as Vice President, Chief Obafemi Jeremiah Awolowo as General Secretary, Akinola Maja, Oni Akerele, Akinola Williams, Saburi Biobaku, Abiodun Akinrele, D.O.A. Oguntoye, Ayo Rosili and others in London, England.
“Apart from Afenifere Diaspora USA that is officially recognised by the national body to represent Afenifere in the United States, it is worthy of note for the general public to discountenance other groups or individuals in the United States who are directly or tacitly representing Afenifere National body.
“Afenifere is a one family umbrella, as affirmed by our new acting national leader, Oba Olaitan Oladipo, during a well-broadcasted interview, anchored by a veteran journalist, Dr Reuben Abati, on Arise News.
“Suffice it to say, Afenifere Diaspora USA hereby issued a disclaimer to any such groups or individuals who falsely claim such unique identity as a group or individuals representing Afenifere National Body in the United States.
“It is an act of ‘tale of truth and falsehood’ to claim such titles or positions,” the group said.
