ADC coalition seems like ‘business as usual’ – Princewill

Movie producer and politician, Prince Tonye Princewill, has said that the recently formed political coalition led by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) lacks clear ideas and appears to be doing “business as usual.”

Speaking in an interview on Arise TV, Princewill noted that while it is still early days for the coalition, he is a little disappointed with what he has seen so far.

“When you look at the coalition, one of the problems I have personally is the absence of fresh blood.

“Until we can encourage the younger generation to start taking active roles in our politics, I am afraid it’s going to be business as usual.”

Princewill said that for any coalition to succeed in unseating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), it must offer more than just opposition.

“The argument is that you can see what they are against, but you might not necessarily see what they are for,” he explained.

“That’s the problem with our politics today, there is a big vacuum because of the absence of ideology.”

He warned that without clear policies and principles, even a united front might not lead to meaningful change.

“If you ask most political parties what their plans are for youth or job creation, they have none. If they take power without a clear idea of what to do, it will still be business as usual.”

However, Princewill advised the APC not to underestimate the growing frustration among Nigerians, saying the ADC still has a chance to win future elections.

“It will be unwise for the APC to underestimate what the ADC is doing. There’s a lot of dissatisfaction with the APC government. If you took a genuine poll, you would see that.”

“The ADC might win the next election. It’s not impossible. But to defeat the APC, you need more than what I have seen so far.”

Princewill stressed that winning elections should not be the only goal.

“The priority should not just be about winning but about winning for Nigeria and moving the country forward,” he said.
