ADC coalition enlarges in Abia, backs David Mark’s leadership
The Abia State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, has supported the former National Working Committee of the party for ushering in the interim National Chairman, David Mark, and for the ongoing coalition talks.
The party stated this on Saturday in Umuahia during an enlarged coalition meeting held by ADC members and the college of coalition members from other political parties.
In a communiqué released after the meeting, the Abia ADC said that the interim National Working Committee of the coalition ADC had recognised Iyke Nwoke as the Abia State interim Chairman.
The communiqué, which was signed by former ADC governorship candidate Bishop Sunday Onuoha, Iyke Nwoke, and other signatories, named Okey Ezeala as the interim State Secretary of ADC in Abia and recognised Bishop Sunday Onuoha’s efforts in unifying the party.
They, however, expressed dismay that some politicians have remained in their old political parties even while still claiming to be members of the ADC coalition.
According to him, “The only valid means of joining the coalition ADC is by registering at the ward level and identifying with the interim leadership, not (by) grandstanding or social media speculation.”
Also speaking to journalists during the meeting, the interim chairman of ADC in Abia, Iyke Nwoke, said that a crowd of Abia politicians is presently queuing up to join the ADC Coalition, even as he stated that his party is not factionalised in Abia.
He further said that the ongoing coalition talks in Abia will lead to the ADC sweeping elective positions in Abia come 2027.
