Adamawa govt orders investigation into Yola flooding

The Adamawa State government says it has asked experts to investigate the cause of the massive flooding in parts of the state.

This was disclosed in a post on the X handle of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri on Monday.

He said: “Today, upon arriving in Yola, I drove straight to the scene of the flood disaster.”

“I walked through affected homes, inspecting firsthand what could be the underlying causes.”

According to Fintiri, he has directed that more relief materials be made available at the IDP camp and prayed for the peaceful repose of those who lost their lives.

He said they are studying the whole situation to prevent further occurrence.

He said: “We are also assembling a team of experts to study the situation and recommend lasting solutions.”

“Let me be clear: any structure—no matter how big or small—built on natural water channels and obstructing the flow will not be spared.”

“We must act decisively to protect lives and prevent future tragedies.”

Sunday rain in Adamawa had submerged parts of Yola North and Yola South local government areas, leaving survivors devastated at the loss of loved ones and their priorities.
