AC Milan Pull Plug on Super Eagles Striker Victor Boniface Transfer After Failed Medical

Talented Nigerian striker Victor Boniface has apparently failed a scheduled medical checkup; hence, Serie A club AC Milan has given up on signing him from Bayer Leverkusen.

To undergo final inspections before finalising a much-anticipated transfer from Bayer Leverkusen, the 23-year-old Super Eagles attacker travelled to Italy earlier this week.

But the player’s expected transfer to a new club has now fallen through, which is a huge setback for Victor Boniface, who was expecting a new challenge in a new country.

The Italian media reported that the Serie A giants withdrew from the deal to sign Boniface after the Rossoneri’s medical staff voiced concerns during Boniface’s evaluations.

According to reports, fitness and long-term durability were important considerations in the decision, even though the precise nature of the medical issues has not been made public.

‘‘AC Milan calls the Victor Boniface deal off as the Nigerian striker did not pass the medical tests.

‘‘Despite verbal agreement for a €5m loan fee and a €24m buy clause with a player in Milano in the last 48h, the deal was called off due to medical reasons.

‘‘Boniface, returning in Germany,’’ transfer guru Fabrizio Romano wrote on his official X page (formerly Twitter).

The decision by AC Milan to pull the plug on the deal was decried by Bayer Leverkusen director Rolfes, who stated in a post on social media that the player’s physical situation has improved compared to the beginning, when he had the injury.

“If Boniface comes back to Leverkusen, the AC Milan deal will be over. That’s no big secret.”

“Renegotiating the deal? I don’t think that will happen,” he told BILD.

“His physical situation has improved compared to the beginning,” Rolfes wrote on X.
