Abuja-Kaduna Train Accident: NRC Activates Emergency Response

A passenger train travelling from Abuja to Kaduna derailed on Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred at about 11:09 a.m. between the Kubwa and Asham stations.
It is not immediately clear what caused the derailment, but the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) confirmed that the incident involved its Kaduna-bound AKTS service.

“NRC confirms a train derailment involving its Kaduna-bound AKTS train service at about 11.09 at KM 49 between Kubwa station and Asham station.
“Emergency rescue, medical personnel, and nearby hospitals have already been mobilised.
“Full complement of security is already on the ground as efforts are ongoing to move all passengers on the train back to Abuja safely,” said the statement signed by NRC’s Managing Director, Kayode Opeifa.
