Abuja Court Orders Arrest Of British Citizen, Others

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Tuesday, issued an arrest warrant against a British citizen, Andrew Wynne, and other Nigerians over allegations of terrorism and treason.

Justice Emeka Nwite granted an ex-parte motion filed by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, against Wynne (aka Andrew Povich) and ten other Nigerians accused of conspiring with Wynne to plot the removal of President Bola Tinubu through unconstitutional means, among other allegations.

At Tuesday’s proceedings, the police prosecution Audu Garba informed the court of the ex-parte application seeking an order to arrest them.

He said the defendants are on the run, so granting the application will enable the police and other security agencies to arrest the defendants.

Audu said the defendants are accused of of conspiracy, treason, inciting to mutiny, inciting disaffection to government and terrorism, among others, which is contrary to Sections 97, 410, 413, 416 and 412 of the Penal Code, Northern States Federal Provisions Act CAP P3 LFN 2004.

He said the defendants were also allegedly responsible for planning and coordinating the invasion and burning down of the High Court Complex, the office of the Nigerian Communications Commission and a printing Press in Kano State, among others.

He filed an 11 paragraph affidavit in support of his motion and urged the court to grant it.

The lawyer listed the individuals to include Andrew Povich, Lucky Obiyan, and Abdullahi Musa.

Audu said others who are now at large are being tracked, hence, the need for the application.

Justice Nwite granted the motion, ordering the arrest of all the defendants mentioned.
