Abia State Lawmaker Dumps PDP

A member representing Bende South State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon Emmanuel Chinedu Ndubuisi has formally resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),
First elected in 2019 and re-elected in 2023 under the PDP banner, Ndubuisi announced his decision to switch parties during a strategic meeting with political supporters on Saturday, June 21, sources confirmed to THE WHISTLER.
The lawmaker in a letter dated 23 June 2025 and addressed to the PDP Chairman Uzuakoli Ward, Bende Local Government and copied to the PDP Chairman Bende LGA, PDP Abia North Zonal Chairman and PDP Chairman Abia State explained that his decision to leave the party is due to the prolonged worsening crisis within the party at multiple levels, which has made it difficult for him to continue to function effectively.
It is not yet clear which party he’s defecting to but sources said he’s expected to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the coming days.
“I write to formally resign my membership of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) effective immediately,” he wrote.
“This difficult but necessary decision came after a series of engagements with my family, political associates and my constituents.
“This decision is due to the prolonged worsening crisis within the party at multiple levels, nationally, zonally and at the state level which has made it difficult for me to continue to function effectively under the platform of the Peoples’ Democratic Party.
“I remain resolute in my commitment to the People of Bende South State Constituency, the ideals of democracy and good governance,” the lawmaker wrote.
