Abia Signage Agency Issues Demand Notice On Billboard Renewal

The Abia State Signage and Advertisement Agency (ABSSAA) has called on all stakeholders in the advertising industry to promptly pay their annual renewal fees to ensure the smooth operation of the agency.

In a press release issued on Monday, the agency emphasised that payments should be made to the designated Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) account, using stakeholders’ ABSIN numbers.

The statement, signed by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ABSSAA, Mrs. Dibunma Victoria Onwubiko, also addressed the issue of unwanted billboards.

“The general public is advised to desist from the ugly practice of hanging loose flex materials on our fences and poles, as they often fall and block our gutters.

“The general public is advised to adhere strictly to these directives as defaulters will be sanctioned,” the release read.

This announcement builds on ABSAA’s ongoing efforts to enforce advertisement regulations across the state.

In February, the agency intensified its crackdown on defective flex banners, obsolete boards, and unapproved advertising materials in the Umuahia metropolis and Umudike.

According to a post on the agency’s official Facebook page, a sanitation exercise was conducted from Opet Junction along Ikot Ekpene Road, concluding at Michael Okpara University in Umudike.

During the operation, demand notices were served to filling and gas stations in the area. The agency stated that the exercise was part of its mission to ensure a clean environment and compliance with advertising laws in the state.
