Abia Promises To Build Skilled Workforce To Deliver Otti’s Mandate — SSG

The Secretary to the Abia State Government Prof. Kenneth Kalu has said that building a highly skilled and effective workforce capable of delivering exceptional results in governance and public service is one of the critical components of Governor Otti’s administration.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of a Two Days capacity building training workshop on cabinet foundational skills, operations, processes and governance for effective and efficient service delivery organized by the Office of the Secretary to the State Government for cabinet office staff at the Golden Olive hotel umuahia, Prof. Kalu described civil servants as critical stakeholders in governance describing the workshop as very essential for effective performance and good governance.
Kalu stated that the present Administration led by Governor Alex Otti is focused on rebuilding the state adding that the Governor is not relenting in supporting programmes geared towards bringing positive transformation in the state.
He maintained that the aim of the workshop is to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge that will enhance their performance and contribute to effective and efficient delivery of services in the cabinet.
Prof. Kalu further emphasized the importance of the capacity building training in achieving the state government’s vision of resetting and rebuilding the State for the benefit of all.
He however advised the participants to be proactive in discharging their duties and take the training seriously expressing the hope that at the end of the two days program the aim will be achieved.
In their goodwill messages,the commissioner for information, Prince Okey Kanu and the Chief of staff to the Governor Pastor Caleb Ajagba congratulated the SSG professor Kenneth Kalu for the initiative adding that when civil servants discharge their duties effectively there will be tremendous progress in governance .
In his remark earlier, the Head of Service Mr Benson Ojiekere called on the participants to make good use of the opportunity as it will equip them with fundamental skills to perform more efficiently and effectively.
In his welcome address the Permanent Secretary office of the SSG, Dr Godwin Okezue said the workshop is designed to enable participants leverage on the wealth of experience of the resource persons as well as work with the foundational skills and knowledge required to work efficiently in the cabinet office.
