Abia Govt Moves To Tackle Ohafia Erosion

The Abia State Ministry Of Poverty Alleviation And Social Protection on Thursday, paid a visit to two senior citizens of Ndi Agwu Compound, Eziukwu section of Ebem Ohafia Abia State, whose houses are about to be washed away by erosion.

This action was sequel to an appeal made to the ministry by the member representing Ohafia South State Constituency, Hon. Kalu Mba.

Speaking to THE WHISTLER during the visit, Kalu explained that he came across these two senior citizens during one of his overnight functions in his Constituency.

“I came across them in the course of my committee’s oversight function in their community where we had gone to inspect erosion sites,” he said

Hon. Kalu Mba also revealed that he has donated a plot of land, where he has requested the government to assist in building twin bungalows for the affected senior citizens.

“I have donated a plot of Land behind Ebem Ohafia Judiciary court, where I have requested the government to assist in erecting two twin bungalows for them,” Kalu said.

The senior citizens expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Hon. Kalu Mba and the Abia State Government for their timely intervention.

THE WHISTLER also reports that the senior citizens’ homes are in a deplorable condition, and every passing moment puts them at risk.

The Abia State Government’s prompt response will not only alleviate their suffering but also demonstrate its support for the most vulnerable members of the community.
