Abia Govt Cracks Down On Illegal Car Wash Operators In Aba

In a decisive move to restore order and protect public infrastructure, the Abia State Harmonized Task Force (ASHTF) has intensified its campaign against illegal car wash operators across the commercial city of Aba beginning with a major enforcement action in the Ogbor Hill area.

ASHTF operatives led by the Aba area coordinator, Chief Uche Wogu, stormed an illegal car wash site where equipment was promptly confiscated.

The operation revealed significant damage to public road infrastructure caused by the unregulated business activities. Most notably, operators had constructed three makeshift dams, which disrupted a key drainage channel that feeds into the Aba River.

“These improvised dams were created to ensure a steady water supply for the illegal business, but in the process, they blocked crucial water pathways, exacerbating flooding and erosion risks. While we must admit the creativity behind the structures, their impact was harmful and unsustainable.

“Our team has dismantled the dams and restored the natural flow to the Aba River.” Chief Wogu stated.

This action forms part of a broader citywide crackdown. ASHTF has declared war on illegal car wash operations that endanger public infrastructure and violate environmental standards.

The Task Force also reiterated ongoing efforts to sensitize business owners around the Aba Factory Road rail crossing about the need to maintain the railroad right of Way.
