Abia CP goes tough against unprofessional conduct, disbands Quick Intervention Unit
Abia State Police Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa has ordered the disbandment of the Quick Intervention Unit (QIU) because of unprofessionalism and misconduct.
To further strengthen the operational efficiency, the CP has established a new tactical unit code- named Strike Force, an intervention team which is Commanded by DSP Eze Augustine Eke,
A statement signed by DSP Maureen Chinaka, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, said that the action was in its continuous fight against unprofessional conduct by officers.
The Command noted that the disbandment of the Quick Intervention Unit and establishment of Strike Forecast were in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to build a professionally competent, service driven, rule of law compliant and people- friendly Police Force.
It further said that the newly established Intervention team comprises well-trained, disciplined, and combat ready officers strategically deployed as an additional tactical team to combat crime in the State.
According to the Police Spokesperson, the Commissioner of Police has charged the newly inaugurated team to uphold professionalism, remain disciplined, and ensure strict compliance with the rule of law in the discharge of their duties.
CP Danladi Isa also called on Abia people to promptly report any form of misconduct by police officers to the Command’s Complaints Response Unit (CRU).
