The Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, says that there is no better place currently for entrepreneurship and investment than Abia State.

Governor Otti stated this on Tuesday while receiving in the audience a delegation of the US Market Access Center (USMAC) led by the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Chris Burry.

He said that the state government is happy to partner with the company to harness the potential and human energy existing in Aba, the commercial nerve centre of the state.

Governor Otti stated, “The proposal of the company is in line with the vision of his administration.

“When you talk of technology, that’s where we are heading. If it is about entrepreneurship or innovation, I think you have come to the best place.

“There is no better place if you are talking about entrepreneurship if you are thinking of investment than Abia State,” Otti stated.

Governor Otti, who said that there is huge potential and human energy available in Aba, requested the team to visit Aba to see things for themselves, saying that he wants their findings to be evidence-based.

“I want it to be evidence-based. So, go to Ariaria; go to other markets in Aba, and you will see things for yourself. We need to come from an evidence point of view,” Governor Otti declared.

Mr Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, the chief press secretary to the Governor, said in a statement report that the Governor commissioned the team to interface with the Commissioner for Science, Technology, and Innovation, Mr David Kalu, and members of the Governor’s team in charge of technology to work with the US Market Access Center (USMAC) and come up with recommendations on how best to collaborate with them.

He maintained that the administration is in a hurry to develop the potential in Abia and thereby create wealth and lift the people out of poverty; hence, it always accepts credible prospective investors and partners.

Earlier in his speech, the leader of the delegation and Chief Executive Officer of US Market Access Center (USMAC), Mr Chris Burry, said that Abia is the first state the team is visiting with its proposal because of the innovations the Governor is bringing to the state.

He expressed their interest in investing in entrepreneurship development and skills acquisition. He said that the company wants to collaborate with the Abia State Government in various technological areas with opportunities including entrepreneurship education and skills acquisition, among others.

The Commissioner for Science, Technology, and Innovation, Mr David Kalu, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba; Technical Assistant to the Governor, Charles Egonye; and Chief Information Officer of the State, Mr Gerald Illukwe, among others, were present at the working visit.
