His Imperial Majesty, Eze Isaac Ikonne , the Enyi 1 of Aba, has honoured several journalists including radio personalities with prestigious chieftaincy titles in recognition of their contributions to the media and societal development.

The event, which coincided with the monarch’s 96th birthday celebration, saw media practitioners from different stations gather to celebrate the honorees and pay homage to the revered traditional ruler.

Michael Oni of Enyimba FM was conferred with the title Onu na-ekwuru Ọha 1 of Aba (The Mouthpiece of the People 1 of Aba). Agụ Kalu Okemini, popularly known as Bros Tata of Legend FM, was named Olu ndi Aba 1 (The Voice of Aba 1), while Vivian Nwaeze of Magic FM, fondly called Aunty Vivi, received the title Ada Eji Aga Mba 1 (A Worthy Daughter).

Samuel Ejima Tologari, widely referred to as Pastor Metu of Magic FM, was honored as Odozi Obodo 1 (The Community Builder 1), while Chief Tony Agbanyim of Magic FM was elevated to High Chief with the title Ogele 1 (The Herald 1).

Speaking at the ceremony on Monday, Eze Ikonne praised the honorees for their dedication to truth, accountability, and community development through their work in the media.

“These individuals have used their voices to promote good governance and societal progress. They are ambassadors of truth and accountability, and I am proud to honor them today,” Ikonne said.

He also praised their commitment to speaking the truth into power, urging political leaders to embrace constructive criticism rather than antagonizing the media.

In their response, the honorees expressed profound gratitude for the recognition, pledging to uphold the highest standards of professionalism while continuing to advocate for positive societal change.

Michael Oni, reflecting on the honor, described it as “a call to greater service” and reaffirmed his commitment to being a voice for the voiceless and a champion of truth and accountability in the media.

Eze Ikonne, a first-class traditional ruler and elder statesman, further reaffirmed the critical role of media practitioners in fostering peace, accountability, and development in society.

The event drew journalists from Real FM, Magic FM, Legend FM, Buzz FM, Obioma FM, and Sun FM, who joined in celebrating the monarch and the newly conferred chiefs.
