AASU Hails NAPS Appointment Of Chief James Ume As National Patron
The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) ‘s decision to appoint Chief James Ume, philanthropist and Publisher of THE WHISTLER Communications, as its national patron has excited the All-Africa Students’ Union (AASU).
NAPS in a unanimous decision at its national convention in Minna, Niger State appointed Chief Ume as its national patron.
Announcing the appointment, the NAPS National President, Oyewumi Festus said Ume has helped in shaping the future of many youths and promoting education as a tool for national growth and development.
The appointment has elicited reactions across groups.
Speaking to THE WHISTLER on the development, the President, All-Africa Students’ Union, Osisiogu, Osikenyi Enyinnaya said Ume’s contribution to the education sector is already transforming the lives of youths across the country.
He said, “It is with great pleasure that the All-Africa Students’ Union (AASU) congratulate Chief James Ume on his well-deserved appointment as Patron of the National Association of Polytechnic Students.
“His tireless efforts and contributions to education in Nigeria especially through The Unubiko Foundation have not gone unnoticed.
“His commitment to shaping the minds of future generations is truly inspiring,
and leadership will undoubtedly have a profound impact on the students and
faculty alike.”
The association described Chief Ume as a champion of education who has demonstrated unwavering dedication, passion and expertise.
Enyinnaya said Ume is an “Exemplary role model for students and educators across Nigeria.
“We celebrate Chief James Ume’s achievement and optimistically look forward to witnessing the positive changes his patronage will bring to the National Association of Polytechnic Students, and other National and continental student leadership structure.”
THE WHISTLER reported that Chief Ume through Unubiko Foundation donated N500m to Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu State Polytechnic, Aba during the recent 19th and 20th combined convocation.
The N500m pledge was to enable the institution to expedite its infrastructure projects to create a conducive and sustainable environment for learning.
Governor Otti would oversee the disbursement of the N500m.
