25-Year-Old Arraigned For Stabbing Man With Broken Bottle In Ikorodu

A 25-year-old man, Gbolahan Adebowale, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Ikorodu Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly assaulting a man and causing him bodily harm.
Adebowale, whose residential address was not disclosed, is facing a two-count charge bordering on conduct likely to cause a breach of peace and assault occasioning harm.
Adebowale, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, ASP Aminu Isaac, informed the court that the defendant committed the offences on April 16, at about 2:30 a.m. in the Obale area of Ikorodu.
Isaac alleged that Adebowale, alongside others who are currently at large, engaged in a violent fight, which affected the peace of the neighbourhood.
According to the prosecutor, during the fracas, the defendant assaulted one Mr. Gbenga Odufowora by stabbing him with a broken bottle on his back and two fingers, which resulted in severe injuries.
ASP Isaac noted that the offences contravened Sections 168 (d) and 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate B.A. Sonuga granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until June 5, for mention.
