2027: We aim to take power from APC through democratic means – ADC
The newly formed opposition coalition party, the African Democratic Congress, ADC, has stated that its mission is to wrest power from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, through democratic means.
In a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja by the party’s interim National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, ADC emphasised that it is not interested in truncating Nigeria’s democracy.
This clarification followed a tweet by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga.
Abdullahi said Onanuga had accused the opposition of plotting to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s government before 2027.
“We are not soldiers, we are politicians. We don’t have bullets; we only have the ballots,” he said.
Stressing that the health of Nigeria’s democracy depends on a free, open, and competitive political environment, Abdullahi affirmed that ADC remains committed to building a better Nigeria through peace and democratic participation.
