2027: Osun PDP Senators Endorse Tinubu For Re-Election

In a surprising political development, all three senators representing Osun State under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have declared their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
This is the first significant direct endorsement from the major opposition political party weeks after Akwa Ibom State governor, Umo Eno, angered the party to endorse the president.
Osun has a PDP governor. It’s not clear if he will also endorse the president who also comes from the Southwest geopolitical zone.
In a joint statement issued on Wednesday, Senators Kamarudeen Oyewumi (Osun West), Olubiyi Ajagunla (Osun Central), and Francis Fadahunsi (Osun East) commended President Tinubu’s leadership, highlighting strides made in governance, economic reforms, and infrastructure development.
“This endorsement is not just symbolic — it reflects our deep confidence in President Tinubu’s ability to deliver on the promise of democracy,” the statement read. “The Osun PDP Senators’ Caucus is united and unwavering in its support. There is no internal dissent; we stand as one.”
The senators cited improvements in national security and a notable reduction in food prices as key indicators of what they described as “the president’s effective policies.”
They also praised Tinubu’s administration for its “visionary and progressive agenda,” noting visible changes across critical sectors.
The endorsement follows a closed-door meeting held on Tuesday.
