2027: Abia Arise Coordinator Blasts PDP Over Comments To Remove Otti

The Zonal Chairman of Abia Arise in Abia North, Chief Chidiebere Asonye, has lambasted the stakeholders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for claiming that the party is poised to reclaim power in the 2027 governorship election in Abia State.

Speaking with newsmen in Umuahia on Tuesday, Chief Asonye dismissed the comments by the PDP Chairman, Elder Amah Abraham, and the Member Representing Ohafia North State Constituency, Hon. Mandela Obasi, as “delusional” and “disconnected from the political reality in the state.”

“It is laughable that people still have the boldness to speak of the PDP, a party Abians overwhelmingly rejected in 2023 when they voted en masse for Governor Alex Otti and the Labour Party”.

He emphasized that Abia State has moved on from what he described as years of stagnation under PDP rule.

“We are not going back to Egypt. Governor Alex Otti has liberated Abia State, and never again will this state be captured by those who do not have the interest of the masses at heart,” he declared.

Asonye expressed strong confidence that the Labour Party will sweep all elective positions in Abia North Senatorial District in 2027.

“Let me inform them that Governor Alex Otti will be massively re-elected in 2027, and the Labour Party will win all elections in Abia North,” he said.

He however appealed to the people of Abia North to continue their support for Governor Otti in order to consolidate the gains already achieved.

The PDP had earlier stated that they are ready to take steps to ensure that Governor Alex Otti is voted out in 2027

The Abia North party stakeholders said the PDP is well positioned to reclaim power from the governor and the Labour Party in the next election cycle.

The chieftains from five different area councils Ohafia, Isuikwuato, Bende, Umuneochi and Arochukwu made the declaration during a meeting in Abariba, Ohafia area council.

Speaking at the meeting, the state chairman for the PDP, Amah Abraham urged party members to remain united in the course to oust Otti and the Labour Party from the Government House.

He also advised members and leaders of the party against actions that could derail the hope of rebuilding the PDP.

According to Abraham, the PDP will remain committed to ensuring that members are united while leaders and party stakeholders continue in their efforts to reconcile aggrieved members.

He also said that only those qualified would be allowed to seek tickets for the 2027 general elections across the country as the party would be considering the backgrounds of all prospective aspirants.
