2025 FIFA Club World Cup: PSG One Game Away From Making History, Says Luis Enrique

After defeating Real Madrid 4-0 in the semifinals, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) firmly secured their place in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup final, putting them on the verge of making football history.

The club is “one game away from making history” by potentially winning every competition they have played in this season, head coach Luis Enrique said with great delight.

On Wednesday, July 9, the French champions delivered a dominant display at MetLife Stadium, with goals from Ousmane Dembélé and Gonçalo Ramos, in addition to two goals from Fabián Ruiz. With this win, a much-anticipated final matchup with Chelsea is scheduled for Sunday, July 13.

Luis Enrique praised his team’s efforts, especially considering the challenging conditions. “It is a beautiful victory, and we are happy to be in the final,” he told DAZN. “We are in a special season, a special moment, and I think we deserve to win. We are one game away from making history for Paris and for a French club by winning every competition we have taken part in. That means a lot to us and to our fans.”

The Spanish tactician also said he will be depending on forward Ousmane Dembélé for Sunday’s matchup with Chelsea in the Club World Cup final.

He said, “I’d like to highlight that this is the first game where I had my best player, Dembélé, at his best.

“We’d seen very little of him throughout this tournament. He’s a critical player, a unique player, the kind of player every fan wants to see… Hopefully, we can have him for the final.”
