12 Dead, Five Injured In Kano Trailer Crash — FRSC
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed the death of 12 people and injuries to five others in a lone accident that happened in the early hours of Friday in Kano State.
FRSC Sector Commander in the state, Muhammed Bature, said the crash happened at about 2:40 a.m. at Samawa Village in Garun Malam Local Government Area, along the Zaria–Kano highway.
According to Bature, the incident involved a DAF CF95 trailer, with registration number KMC 931 ZE, loaded with goods.
He explained that the crash involved 19 persons in total — 12 died, five sustained varying degrees of injuries, while two escaped unhurt.
“The accident occurred when the trailer lost control and crashed because its cab detached from its body due to a mechanical failure in the trailer’s cab hook,” Bature said in a statement issued in Kano.
He added that the bodies of the deceased had been deposited at Nassarawa Hospital, while the injured were receiving treatment at Kura General Hospital.
The sector commander warned motorists against speeding, dangerous driving, and other unsafe practices that could endanger lives and property.
