Nigerian singer and Afrobeats queen, Tiwa Savage has hinted at retiring from music, saying her next studio album might be her last body of work.
In the exact words of the 44-year-old mother of one, she said,
I am tired, I don try.
Tiwa made this announcement on her Instagram story where she wrote,
This might be my last studio album. I am tired, I don try.
Although the singer alluded to her next studio album, not much is known about it at the moment. There is, as of now, no information on the title or release date.
Tiwa’s debut single titled “Kele Kele Love” released in 2010 launched her into stardom on the Nigerian music scene and since then she’s not looked back.
Before her emergence as one of Nigeria’s most celebrated artists, Tiwa built an impressive résumé on the international music scene.
Born Tiwatope Savage on February 5, 1980, in Ikeja, Lagos State, the Afrobeats queen began her musical journey in 1996 and gained experience as a backup vocalist for global stars like Kelly Clarkson, Mary J. Blige, and Destiny’s Child.
Her international career soared after competing in the UK edition of The X Factor in 2006, where she reached the top 24 contestants.
In 2009, she signed a major publishing deal with Sony/ATV Music, writing hits for artists like Jaicko and Kat DeLuna.
Tiwa earned her first Grammy nomination in 2010 through her collaboration with Fantasia on the track ‘Collard Greens & Cornbread.’
Over the years, she has released multiple chart-topping albums and collaborated with renowned artists worldwide.
