Terry G says it’s disrespectful to compare him to Portable
Street pop veteran Terry G speaks out on the continuous comparison between him and Street music veteran Portable.
According to Terry G, it was disrespectful for him to be compared to Portable because he has music people listen to 10 years after it was released.
The veteran singer and producer made this claim in a post on his X account on April 14, 2025.
Terry G’s comment comes amidst continuous comparison between him and Street pop star Portable by fans who find their eccentric fashion sense and lifestyle similar.
Since breaking into the mainstream in 2021, Portable has become one of Nigeria’s most viral artists, especially for his troublemaking antics.
While Terry G didn’t have a run-in with the police like Portable, he had an eccentric fashion style, genre-defiling music, and curious dance steps he called ‘Free Madness,’ which earned him the nickname Akpako Master.
His music, which combined Galala music with White Garment elements and Hip Hop, carried an eccentricity many fans find in Portable’s music and fashion sense.
Terry G has also admitted to seeing a part of himself in Portable. He made this admission during an appearance on the Honest Bunch Podcast.
The duo has also collaborated in the past. Portable featured Terry G on his song ‘Ogbafia’ and both appeared on C Prince‘s ‘Koba.’
Portable is unlikely to respond to Terry G anytime soon as he’s currently being remanded in a correction facility in Kwara state over criminal defamation charges instituted by Fuji music icon King Saheed Osupa.
