Nick Woltemade has enjoyed an impressive start at Newcastle United and continued his fine form with a goal against Nottingham Forest this afternoon.
Woltemade has scored four goals in seven appearances across all competitions since joining Newcastle from Stuttgart for a club-record fee of around £69m in the summer.
The German has made an instant impact despite the pressure to replace Alexander Isak, with his latest goal an emphatic penalty to seal Sunday’s 2-0 win over Forest at St James’ Park.
Woltemade has become just the third Newcastle player to score in each of their first three Premier League games at St James’. A quick adaption to the North East has seen Woltemade match the achievement of Les Ferdinand (1995) and Alan Shearer (1996).

Ferdinand’s first season with the Magpies saw him score in his first three home games. ‘Sir’ Les eventually delivered 25 league goals and won the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award for the 1995/96 season.
That summer, Shearer signed for boyhood club Newcastle from Blackburn Rovers in a £15m world-record deal, and also scored in his first three home league games for the club.
Shearer’s debut season in black and white saw the Geordie goal-getter net 25 goals in the Premier League to win the division’s Golden Boot and PFA Players’ Player of the Year prize.
