Anambra AA guber candidate urges colleagues to play mature politics, stop insults

As political tension continues to rise in Anambra State, the governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA), Chief Jeff Nweke, has sounded the alarm over the growing trend of derogatory statements among politicians ahead of the November 8 polls.

In a strongly worded statement, Nweke warned that such “legendary misspeaks” not only threaten unity but also diminish the integrity of those who indulge in them.

“Politics is a natural phenomenon. It’s part of who we are,” Nweke said, emphasizing that politics should be used as a tool for positive influence, not character assassination.

Citing Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s earlier remarks about politics being a platform for meaningful change, Nweke agreed, adding that change is “a constant river” that sweeps away outdated patterns and replaces them with fresh approaches.

“Old ways may not be entirely bad,” he admitted, “but striving for better must never stop. Having multiple ideas and strategies shouldn’t be seen as division—it’s innovation.”

Nweke called on his fellow candidates to “shun the temptation” of using inflammatory language and instead embrace issue-based campaigns that focus on solving the people’s problems.

“Let’s stop these verbal attacks. Let’s show maturity and sportsmanship. Anambra is ready for something better—and we must rise to that expectation.”

With the race heating up and political camps getting louder, Jeff Nweke’s message is a timely reminder that the battle for votes should never become a war of words.
