The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, Ayomide Oluwadamilare, for allegedly murdering his former employer, Kola Adun, and attempting to sell the victim’s stolen vehicle.

The suspect was apprehended in the Ijede area of Ikorodu, Lagos, while trying to sell Adun’s Toyota Camry, according to a statement issued on Tuesday by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola.

The incident came to light after residents of River Valley Estate in Ojodu Berger alerted authorities to a foul odour emanating from Adun’s apartment.

“On July 7, 2025, the Divisional Police Officer, Ojodu Abiodun Division, received a distress call from Mubarak area in Akute regarding an offensive smell from a building,” Odutola said.

Police officers who responded to the scene forced entry into the apartment on Ogunmoyero Street and found the decomposing body of Adun on the first floor.

The body reportedly bore multiple stab wounds, with bloodstains observed throughout the room.

Odutola further disclosed that a friend of the deceased had earlier raised concerns when he was unable to reach Adun by phone and found the house gate locked from the outside. His concerns led to police involvement.

Investigations revealed that Oluwadamilare had broken into the home on Saturday, killed Adun, and made away with his Toyota Camry, registration number AAA 193 GC.

However, the suspect ran out of luck when he attempted to sell the car to a dealer in Ijede.

The dealer, suspicious of Oluwadamilare’s story, alerted the police, leading to his arrest at the point of sale.

The deceased’s body has been taken to Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital in Sagamu for autopsy, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Abeokuta for further investigation and prosecution.
