ChatGPT Maker, OpenAI, Partners Condé Nast to Display Contents From Top Brands

Global mass media company, Condé Nast has formally signed an agreement with OpenAI, joining a growing number of media businesses, despite other publishers suing the technology startup.

According to the report, the goal is to incorporate information from leading brands such as Vogue, The New Yorker, Condé Nast Traveler, GQ, Architectural Digest, Vanity Fair, Wired, Bon Appétit, and others into its products, which include ChatGPT and its SearchGPT prototype.

Condé Nast Founded in 1909 by publisher Condé Montrose Nast, is one of the world’s most renowned media companies, creating and distributing every type of media today—print, video and film, digital, audio, and social—and expanding our influence through technological innovation and fully leveraging the global infrastructure we’ve built over a century.

Over the last few months, OpenAI has secured similar arrangements with various media outlets, including Time magazine, the Financial Times, Business Insider-owner Axel Springer, France’s Le Monde, and Spain’s Prisa Media.

“We’re committed to working with Condé Nast and other news publishers to ensure that as AI plays a larger role in news discovery and delivery, it maintains accuracy, integrity, and respect for quality reporting,” said Brad Lightcap, the COO of OpenAI.

The terms of the cooperation were not disclosed. However, in a message to workers, Condé Nast CEO Roger Lynch hinted that the “multi-year” deal may include remuneration from OpenAI in some way; a Condé Nast spokeswoman tells TechCrunch that OpenAI will be allowed to train on Condé Nast content.

“This partnership recognizes that the exceptional content produced by Condé Nast and our many titles cannot be replaced, and is a step toward making sure our technology-enabled future is one that is created responsibly.

It is just the beginning and we will continue what we started in Washington earlier this year – the fight for fair deals and partnerships across the industry until all entities developing and deploying artificial intelligence take seriously, as OpenAI has, the rights of publishers,” Roger said.

We earlier reported that OpenAI is developing a new AI model known as “Strawberry” to assist its artificial intelligence tools achieve human-level intelligence through enhanced reasoning.
