Bella Shmurda

Nigerian Afrobeats singer Bella Shmurda has opened up about a difficult period in his career when poor financial choices almost pushed him into bankruptcy.

Speaking recently in an interview with Nigerian YouTuber Korty EO, the artiste revealed that the excitement of sudden fame led him into a lifestyle of excessive spending and misplaced priorities.

“I used to have a lot of money but I rushed things. I wish I was wise then,” he admitted, reflecting on how quickly he burned through his earnings.

Bella explained that he got carried away trying to live large, often spending on items that eventually proved unnecessary.

“I was just buying things extravagantly, things I eventually had no need for,” he said.

The ‘Cash App’ singer also highlighted how accommodating a large number of friends added to his financial burden, as he tried to sustain a lifestyle that benefited everyone around him.

“I was accommodating up to ten of my friends back then and we were all receiving female visitors,” he revealed.

“I bought three cars at once just so that my friends would go out with me in convoy,” he said.

Summing up that phase of his life, Bella did not hold back in his self-assessment.

“I was reckless,” he stated bluntly.

However, the experience has since reshaped his mindset. He noted that he now approaches money with greater caution and awareness.

“At this point, as I am getting new money, I have to think about every move I want to take,” he added.
